Center Stage at Dr. Phillips Center
There are certain venues that carry a different kind of weight.
Years ago I started writing my own list of dream venues, and earlier this year, I had the opportunity to cross one off when I perform at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, FL.
It’s one of those stages where you feel the energy the moment you step into the room and to be honest, the stage changes everything.
The same performance that might feel intimate in a small setting suddenly becomes something larger. The lighting, the silence, the way an audience leans in together... It all amplifies the experience in a way that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.
There was a moment during the show where I was working with someone on stage, guiding them through a thought, when I felt drawn to a thought from someone sitting just a few seats away from them. I shifted focus, picked up on a detail from that nearby person, and then circled back to reveal both pieces of information. The connection between the two landed in a fun way that caught everyone off guard.. Here's a look at that moment -
That’s what a venue like this allows you to do. It creates a shared experience where everyone is fully present and focused on the same moment together. That kind of collective connection feels rare and incredibly powerful.
Performing at the Dr. Phillips Center wasn’t just another show. It was a reminder of what’s possible when the right environment, the right audience, and the right people come together at the same time.
The entire night was a milestone that I won’t forget anytime soon.
